When we feel that there’s stuck emotional pain, like something needs to be released, to be birthed out of the body or to be shed we invite you to use three simple tools:
- Breath
- Sound
- Movement
Emotion just wants to move and our bodies want to express.
When emotional residue is sitting in the body, the invitation is to really move the body. When we feel stagnant emotions it might also be that we have been stagnant physically in the body. We can’t “think” our way out of stuck emotions.
Get into your body in any way that feels good without trying to figure it out. Go hiking, do a yoga practice, go for a run, dance! Let your body move and the emotions with naturally start to move and unwind.
From there, connect to what’s present.
Using your breath, bringing mindfulness and unconditional acceptance, and with this same level of loving awareness, allow yourself to feel into the sensations in the body.
You can ask yourself “What does this stuck emotion feel like? Where do I feel it in my body?”
Is it a contraction, heat, tightness, pain, bubbling, tingling, cold, numbness?
Let your body move, sound and express this emotion in any way that feels good. Scream, shout, howl, cackle, growl - let loose.
